28 October 2015Photographs taken in 2003, 2011 and in 2016 of what remains of the once 29ΒΌ miles of railway between Magherafelt and Macfin. Also included are connecting railway lines to Cookstown, Draperstown and towards Castledawson. The railway opened on the 19th of February 1880 and the line between Magherafelt and Kilrea closed completely on the 5th of October 1959. There are pictures of the railway stations past and present for comparison's sake. You can imagine what the railway was like when the lines were actually down.
Note on the old photographs of the railway: The old black and white photographs are for reference purposes. Some have been bought as either prints or postcards and others are taken from the Internet. All the colour photographs from 2003, 2011 and later.
